"Pisay," the movie premieres July 21 at Cinemalaya filmfest

Auraeus Solito, acclaimed director of "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros" ("The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros"), will premiere his third full-length feature film on July 21, 3:30 pm (GMT +8), at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater).

"Pisay" is the affectionate nickname students of the elite Philippine Science High School (PSHS) accord to their school. The film relates the experience of eight bright, promising kids as they go through the tough science and math-oriented curriculum even as they grow in body, mind, and spirit in the turbulent '80s in the Philippines.

A finalist competing for top honors in the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, Pisay is hailed by film critics and artists for its refreshing take on Filipino youth.
